China Wuhan International Tourism Festival

*Time: Between September and Octtober

*Venue: Wuhan City, Hubei Province

*Origin: Through rich and varied international tourism cultural exchanges and the display of local tourism resources, the Wuhan International Tourism Festival aims at opening wider to the outside world, promote the city’s tourism brand, upgrade Wuhan City’s tourism brand, upgrade Wuhan City’s image as a whole.

*What’s On: during the festival, a great variety of activities are held, such as the fireworks evening party, the delicacy festival, performances of Chinese and foreign dances, the show of laser water-screen films. The lantern fair, tourist produces on display and sale, etc.

*Main Tourist Attractions: East Lake, Yellow Crane Tower, Guiyuan Temple, Hongshan Mountain, Mulan Moutain, etc.

China Yichang Three Gorges International Tourism Festival

*Time: The last weekend in September every year

*Venue: Yichang City, Hubei Province

*Origin: Located at the junction of the upper and middle reached of the Yangtze River, Yichang City has avundant water resources and the largest key water control project in the world- the Three Gorges Project. To fully develop the local hydrology and tourism resources, the China National Tourism Administration and the Hubei Provincial People’s Government jointly sponsor the China Yichang Three Gorges International Tourism Festival, which is held once a year.

*What’s On: During the festival, tourists will take a cruise tour of the Three Gorges Project on the Yangtze River, inspect the tourism projects in the surrounding areas of Yichang (including the Three Gorges Scenic Area, Shennongjia Scenic Route, the ruins of the Three Kingdoms and Qingjiang Folk Customs and Scenic Area), attend the largest folk customs cultural get-together and have a luxury cruise tour.

*Main Tourist Attractions: Xiling Gorge Scenic Zone, Three Gorges Dam, Gezhouba Key Water Control Project, White Horse Cave, Peach Blossom Village, Qu Yuan Shrine, the Hometoen of Wang Zhaojun, and Sixi.

Transport: Tourists may go to Yichang by air or train. 

China Chongqing Three Gorges International Tourism Festival

*Time: From September to October every year

*Venue: Chongqing

*Origin: As the largest economic center in southwest China and one of China’s four municipalities directly under the central government, Chongqing is rich in tourism resources, and the Three Gorges on the Yangtze River is the most famous. In accordance with the strategy for building tourism into the City’s economic pillar industry, the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee and the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government have successfully held the anneal China Chongqing Three Gorges International Tourism Festival by relying on the Three Gorges on the Yangtze River and through meticulous planning and all-round organization since1993.
  
*What’s On: The opening ceremony, the parade of decorated vehicle, dragon dances, folk dances, performances of folk songs and dances by domestic and foreign artists, large garden parties, and inspection activities of the Three Gorges on the Yangtze River, in addition to various kinds of festivals and celebrations held by districts and counties under the jurisdiction of Chongqing, such as “Dazu Stone Carving Art Festival,” “Fengdu Ghost City Folk Customs Culture Festival,” “Fengjie Heavenly Pit and Earthly Crack International Travel Festival, ” “Wushan Goddess Culture Festival ,” “Nan’an Quanshui Chicken Culture Festival,” “Beibei Jingguan Flowers Travel Festival, ” “Jiulongpo Districts Rear Garden Tour,” “Jianjiang Peony Festival,” and “Tongliang China Dragon Hot Spring Travel Festival.”

*Main Tourist Attractions: Yangtze River Three Gorges Scenic Are, Jinyun Mountain, Dazu Stone Carvings (Dazu Rock Carvings), Jiangjin Simian Mountain Scenic Area, Nanchuan Golden Buddha Mountain Scenic Area, the Muoshui River, etc.

China Wuhan International Acrobatics Art Festival

*Time: The festival is held in early November, once every two years.

*Venue: Wuhan Acrobatics Hall, Hubei Province

*Origin: Acrobatics id a splendid gem in the treasure house of China’s national art, and the Wuhan Acrobatic Troupe enjoys a high reputation in China. By relying on its advantages of acrobatics, Wuhan City promoted the Wuhan International Acrobatics Art Festival in 1992. Since then, the festival has followed the principle of “Unity, friendship and innovation,” and undertaken the mission of performing “more difficult, skillful and beautiful” items, thus opening a new window for the world to understand Wuhan, and building a golden bridge for Wuhan to march toward the World. In the past decade or so, this festival has promoted the international exchanges in acrobatic arts and the local economic and trade development.

*What’s On: The acrobatics troupes from the countries and regions in Europe, America and Asia, and other parts of China are incited to the festival every year. About two thirds of the items performed at the festival are overseas; and one third are domestic. The items participating in the competition are mostly played on the ground, and acrobat items mainly fall into five categories: ground acrobatics, air acrobatics, taming animals, magic and comic acrobatics.

China Jingzhou International Dragon Boat Festival

*Time: The festival is usually held in May, but in indeterminate year. It is suggested that tourists make a phone call to the local tourism bureau to check the exact time before coming to Jingzhou.

*Venue: Jingzhou City, Hubei Province

*Origin: Jingzhou is the birthplace of ancient Chu culture, and dragon boat culture is an important component part of Chu culture. The dragon boat race originated and prevailed in the state of Chu in ancient China =, and mow the dragon boat spirit is the precious, wealth of the Jingzhou people that has been handed down generation by genetation. Holding the dragon boat festival will help preserve and continue this fine tradition, and introduce the local dragon boat festival to the world.

*What’s On: The culture and commerce parade of “dragon boats,” the dragon-boat competition, the temple fair, the lantern fair, the gathering for singing performances, the symposium on dragon boat culture, economic and trade talks, etc.

*Main Tourist Attractions: The old city of Jingzhou Museum, etc.

*Transport: Tourists may fly to Wuhan, and then changes a train or a long-distance bus to Jingzhou.
