Tour Overview
Tibet has been conjectured for its mystery flavor. From Beijing to Lhasa via the Qinghai-Tibet Railway and take the personal car from Lhasa to Nyingchi, Shigatse and Everest Base Camp, you will be touched by this holy land.
Day 1 Arrival/Beijing (no meals)
On arrival in Beijing Capital International Airport, meet our guide and transfer to hotel. The rest of day is at leisure.
Day 2Beijing (B, L)
Pick up from your hotel. Visit to the Tiananmen Square - the world biggest public square, surrounding or pockmarking the square are the monuments of China past and present. Then move on to the Forbidden City - home to the emperors of the Qing and Ming dynasties and one of the world's greatest works of architecture. After lunch, visit the Temple of Heaven - a miracle in architectural history.
Day 3 Beijing (B, L, D)
Morning tour features the Mutianyu Great Wall. After Chinese lunch you will be driven to visit Changling Mausoleum, the largest one of the 13 Ming Tombs. Dinner will be the most famous Beijing cuisine, Beijing Roast Duck and enjoy the Beijing Opera after dinner.
Day 4 Beijing/on the Train (B, L)
Take rickshaw to explore the picturesque Shishahai Lake area and Hutong, the traditional building complexes formed by four houses around a quadrangular courtyard. Visit a free market and the Drum Tower where you will enjoy a bird view of the ancient city. Cook and enjoy your lunch in a common Beijing family. This afternoon proceed to visit the Summer Palace. Take the night train to Lhasa.
Day 5 on the Train
The Qinghai-Tibet railway is the highest of its kind in the world. Your long journey is not insipid at all because you are amazed by the beautiful scenery outside the train window!
Day 6 on the Train/Lhasa
Upon you reach Lhasa, be picked up to your hotel. Then have a good rest to acclimatize to high altitude reaction.
Day7 Lhasa (B, L)
Today, your exciting Tibet tour will start from the world highest holy land of Buddhism - Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple - the center of Tibetan Buddhism. Then you will visit the very traditional Tibetan street--Barkhor Street.
Day 8 Lhasa (B, L)
After breakfast, visit Drepung Monastery. In the afternoon, visit Sera Monastery and the Carpet Factory.
Day 9 Lhasa (B, L)
After breakfast drive about 4hrs to the Namtso Lake - the destination of Tibetan pilgrims and Mecca of the hiking enthusiasts, where you will hiking around the lake about 1-2hrs. On the way you will see the snowclad Nyenchen Tanglha--the mountain range lies to the south of Namtso Lake. Then drive 1.5hrs to Yangpachen - it gains its fame from the abundant geothermic heat which provides people with much to explore, where you can enjoy a spring bath for an expense of CNY 40 to CNY 60 (at your own expense and bring your own bathing suit).
Day 10 Nyingchi (B, L)
This morning, be driven (5-6hrs) to Nyingchi (Linzhi) - one of the cradles of ancient Tibetan civilization. On the way you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Niyang River valley and admire a gigantic rock in the river. You will cross the Mila Mountain Pass (at 5013.25 meters) and reach the Basumtso Lake, where you will enjoy 1 hour hiking and see many snow mountains. The place is nicknamed the Tibetan Jiuzaigou or the lesser Switzerland for its beautiful landscape. It will absolutely strike you! After that, go on driving to Nyingchi.
Day 11 Nyingchi/Lhasa (B, L)
After breakfast, drive about 40 minutes to visit the Giant Cypress Forest. The largest tree is over 2,500 years old, 50 meters high, and 18 meters thick. Local people regard it as a divine tree. After 40-minute-visit, drive back Lhasa. On the way, you will see the beautiful Bangjietang Grassland, snow mountains, primitive forest, sheep, yaks, and traditional Tibetan hamlets.
Day 12 Shigatse (B, L)
After breakfast, the car will cross the Kangbala Mountain (at 4900m) to reach the Lake Yamzho Yumco - at 4441m, about 100km from Lhasa, the highest fresh lake in the world, known as one of the 3 holy lakes of Tibet. By the lakeside, Learn to dance Guozhuang - a Tibetan folk dance and enjoy the beautiful ancient glacier. After that, proceed to Shigatse (at 3,800m). You will sure to be amazed by the plateau snow scenery on the way! (380km/cobbled road/sky way/8.5hrs drive including sightseeing)
Day 13 Mt. Everest Base Camp (B, L)
In the morning, go through formalities at the frontier defense inspection station then drive to the Khumbu Monastery - at a highest elevation of the kind in the world, which is the optimum site to make a long distance view of the mighty and holy Mt. Everest. Then drive to the Everest Base Camp. (6hrs drive today)
Day 14 Shigatse (B, L)
Get up early to see the beautiful sun rise from the Mt. Everest then drive straight to Shigatse. On the way, you will enjoy the charming Brahmaputra River valley. (6rs drive today)
Day 15 Shigatse/Lhasa (B, L)
After breakfast, drive to visit the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery - it is one of the four great monasteries of the Gelugpa Sect, founded in 1447 by 1st Dalai Lama. A 26-high-brass Buddha statue housed there, which is known as the highest of its kind indoor in the world. Admire the Stupa of 10th Dalai Lama then visit the free market of Shigatse. Drive back to Lhasa. (280km, 5rs drive today)
Day 16 Departure (B)
Be escorted to the airport for flight to your next destination.
