12-Day Taste Of China Tea

Tour Overview
Work with the teaplanters in the famous Xihu Longjing tea plantation and the Wuyi Rock tea plantation, taste different kinds of teas, visit tea school, tea museum, ancient tea bowls kiln, and tea factory...this China tea travel will be an unforgettable experience in your life-time.

Day 1 Arrive in Shanghai (no meals)
Meet your guide at the airport and transfer to hotel. Visit the Bund and Nanjing Lu.

Day 2 Shanghai (B, L)
Visit Yu Garden, Shanghai Museum, Jade Buddha Temple, and Xintiandi at the former French Concession.

Day 3 Shanghai/Hangzhou (B, L)
Take an express train to Hangzhou, be met and transfer to Boat at West Lake, and visit Lingyin Temple and Feilai Peak.

Day 4 Hangzhou/Wuyishan (B, L)
After breakfast, visit the Chinese Tea Museum amd enjoy the Chinese tea ceremony. Later visit a tea farm, where we will pick tea (1 hour), and see frying tea process. Take an afternoon train to the birthplace of China’s rock oolongs - Wuyishan, arrive around midnight, be met and transfer to hotel.

Day 5 Wuyishan (B, L, D)
Go to the Royal Tea Garden and learn about the history of Oolong Tea, and then visit a tea valley. In the afternoon, you will visit a tea factory to see the whole process of producing traditional Oolong Tea.

Day 6 Wuyishan (B, L, D)
Hike from Dahongpao (Red Gown) to the Water Curtain Cave, where you will see the over-350-year-old mother bush of Dahongpao. Later go to a tea farmer’s house to taste special wild mushroom tea.

Day 7 Wuyishan (B, L, D)
Visit the tea professional school and learn some facts about rock tea. Then enjoy rafting along the beautiful Jiuqu Stream and visit an ancient kiln where the original Mo Cha tea bowls were produced. Mo Cha is a powdered green tea popular during the Tang and Song dynasties, when it was drunk in a bowl.  Optional night show: Impression Dahongpao (a wonderful show about tea)

Day 8 Wuyishan/Beijing (B, L, D)
Take a morning flight to Beijing. Be met and transfer to visit the Summer Palace.

Day 9 Beijing (B, L)
We are up early today to take in the tranquility of the sprawling Temple of Heaven and join in some tai chi, a popular morning exercise. Afterward, visit Tiananmen Square and the remarkable Forbidden City, lavish residence of the Emperors of two dynasties. 

Optional activity: buy your favorite teas and treasures at the Tea Supermarket.

Day 10 Beijing (B, L)
Enjoy full-day tour of Mutianyu Great Wall and Dingling Tomb.

Optional night show: The Legend of Kung Fu

Day 11 Beijing (B, L)
Take a pedicab to see the traditional Beijing-style alleys - Hutong, where we pay a visit to a local family's home for a tasty lesson in dumpling making.

Optional night activities: Beijing Opera; drink tea and enjoy show at the famous Laoshe Teahouse

Day 12 Beijing/Exit (B)
The trip ends today with you departing on individual schedules. Transfer is provided to the Beijing Capital International Airport.
