Day 1 Arrive in Beijing (no meals)
Be met at the Beijing Capital International Airport in the afternoon. The rest of the day is at your own leisure.
Day 2 Beijing (B, L)
After breakfast, pay a visit to the the Temple of Heaven and the Qianmen Dajie.
After lunch (Beijing Roast Duck for lunch), proceed to visit the world biggest public square -Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City (aka Palace Museum).
After dinner, enjoy the Kungfu Show (or Beijing Opera, it's your option)
Kungfu Show: Kungfu Show is an absolute highlight that will stun you! The show tells an emotional story and shows the very wonderful chinese kungfu. It lasts about 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Qianmen Dajie: an old district south of Tiananmen. It has been renovated before the Beijing Olympics.
Temple of Heaven: a famous historic monument in Beijing, built in 1420. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, emperors came yearly to the temple to worship the God of Heaven and pray for a good harvest. If we go there early enough, we may see the locals do various morning activities, such as sword, Yangko or fans dancing, Taiji boxing, shuttlecock kicking etc.
Day 3 Beijing (B, L)
In the morning, we drive to the stunning Jingshanling Great Wall and make a great hiking to the Simatai Great Wall (12 km, about 5 hrs).
Day 4 Beijing (B, L)
Pay a visit to the Eastern Royal Tombs of the Qing Dynasty (aka The Eastern Qing Tombs)
The Eastern Qing Tombs
The Eastern Qing Tombs, located in Zunhua, 125 kilometers northeast of Beijing, are among the finest and largest extant Mausoleum complexes in China. Altogether 5 emperors, 15 empresses, 136 imperial concubines, 3 princes, and 2 princesses of the Qing Dynasty were buried here.
Day 5 Beijing (B, L)
After breakfast, be driven around the old alleyways (Beijing Hutongs) in a cycle rickshaw. You stop at a traditional courtyard home for a cup of tea and get a historic view of hutong life. On school day mornings you may visit a Chinese kindergarten. You then go up in the Drum Tower and hear the drums play, the ancient way of keeping time. In the afternoon, we proceed to the Summer Palace.
Day 6 Beijing/Shanghai (B, L)
After breakfast, be escorted to the airport for your flight to Shangahi. Upon you arrive at the Shanghai airport, you will be picked up to the hotel. In the afternoon, take a stroll on the Bund and Nanjing Road. After that, proceed to Shanghai Silk Factory to see how silk is produced.
Day 7 Shanghai (B, L)
Proceed for a morning excursion to Yu Garden, Yuyuan Market and Shanghai Museum. After lunch, visit the Jade Buddha Temple, and then get a bird's eye view of Shanghai from the Oriental Pearl TV Tower.
Recommended Night Activities: Chinese Acrobatics Show or Huangpu River Cruise (optional, not are included into the itinerary. If you are interested, please talk with your guide)
Day 8 Shanghai (B)
After breakfast, you will be accompanied to the Shanghai Expo site to have a full day exploration of the various pavillions. Drive back to the hotel.
Note: Standard day ticket holders can enter the Expo area once on any day except for peak days. (Standar day: from May 1 to Oct 31, 2010, excluding May 1 to 3, October 1 to 7 and October 25 to 31).
Day 9 Shanghai/Departure (B)
Be escorted to the airport for your homebound flight.
